About me...
My name is Michael John Murphy and I’m a lifestyle/commercial photographer based in NYC.
My camera has been my backstage pass to documenting many interesting and fascinating people around the world and over the years I’ve worked with some of the most talented people in the industry.
Most of my skills and technique I acquired while traveling and assisting other photographers. For over a decade I assisted photographer/director Bruce Weber. I was his first assistant for seven of those years, during which time I learned how to get comfortable with traveling to foreign lands, photographing A-list celebrities and working with the occasional wild animal. It was also during this time that I started to edit and create layouts for various publications. Now that I’m on my own, I continue my love for story telling through images and galleries, some of which you can find on this site.
I enjoy everything about the creative process that photography offers and I’m always looking forward to the next project to collaborate on.
